On October 18, Chicago PUG will host Aerospike, who has been presenting at our events for a number of years, and we can't wait to find out what they will present this time!
Speaker: Tim Faulkes, Chief Developer Advocate, Aerospike
Talk title: How do you augment the power of Postgres with the speed of a NoSQL database?
Talk Description:
No database is perfect, and large organizations are leaning more towards polyglot architectures, where the best tool is used for a particular use case. Postgres is a superb relational database but requirements of millions of reads or writes per second across vast data volumes in the many terabyte range or even petabyte range is outside its capabilities. With the application of real-time AI models becoming increasingly common, these sorts of requirements are becoming normal.
In this talk, led by Tim Faulkes, the Chief Dev Advocate at Aerospike, he will examine how to augment the power of Postgres with the speed of Aerospike, utilizing both databases for the problems they solve best. Additionally, he will compare and contrast the data models of the two databases and look at how some of the practices that are normal in Postgres are not always the most efficient when applied to a NoSQL database like Aerospike.
We are looking forward to a lively discussion
