Triple tank dive on the Lady Elgin

Join us for a triple dip on the Lady Elgin with Double Action dive charters. The will leave from Waukegan Harbor at 7 am Saturday morning.

The Lady Elgin was a 252 foot wood sidewheel steamer built in Buffalo New York in 1851. On September 8 1860, at 2:30 am, while returning to Chicago from Milwaukee, she was struck in her port midship by the schooner Augusta and sank about 9 miles offshore from Winetka. With over 300 people killed, her sinking remains the worst maritime disaster on the great lakes to this date.

She sits at 50-60 feet in several debris fields.

Cost is $280 payable directly to Double Action. Refunds and credits are between you and Double Action per their policies.

You will need to bring all required equipment, including tanks and weights. C cards are required, open water certification minimum. Prior Lake Michigan or cold water experience is recommended, as is a dry suit. Don't plan on there being any equipment on the boat.
