October Meetup-Bilikiki: Diving in the Wild!

The Solomon Islands loomed large in the news in August 1942, when US Marines began the Guadalcanal campaign as their first step in the long journey of the Pacific War. Today the more remote islands in the chain offer fantastic diving, along with encounters with villagers. I’ll show photos and videos from a 12 day trip on the Bilikiki liveaboard in 2025, including diving near the rumbles of an active volcano, swirling in a barracuda tornado, diving shipwrecks and caverns, and myriads of beautiful tropical Pacific fish, shrimp, and nudibranchs.

Chris Jacobsen moved in 2023 from Chicagoland to the mountains of Colorado where he and Holly host skiing friends in the winter. He switched to being a half-time Physics Professor at Northwestern University, so he's in Evanston weekly for teaching in the fall and he also sneaks in a few Lake Michigan dives in the summer.
