Free OWU passes - see how you can get them!

CSM folks,

A CSM member (Dee Hotchner) who manages Discover the Depths is offering free Our World Underwater 2013 passes.  She heads-up and manages the Children's Program / Activity area at OWU with all sorts of fun things.  Below are the details of how to get your weekend pass.  You can also contact her via the forum thread she started.

Hello All,

I have EIGHT full weekend passes to OWU if you do two four hour shifts helping out at the Children's Program.

The shifts are as follows:

Friday 2/15 - 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm - 2 people throughout the evening

Saturday 2/16 - 9:30 am to 1:30pm; 1:30 to 5:30pm - 3 people throughout the day

Sunday 2/17 - 9:00 am to 1:00 pm - 3 people throughout the day

You are welcome to choose whatever shifts you'd like to do. Please note that it's on a first come first serve basis.

Descriptions of duties are as follows:

Helpers will be asked to assist children in making marine related crafts. Optimally, these individuals would be willing to work with children of all ages, monitor children using scissors, staplers and a hot glue gun. It would be fantastic if the helper would share any of their experiences of any interactions, observations or facts of the animal the child is making.

Helpers will be asked to insure that people do the following:

- Take off their shoes prior to entering the whale.
- Advise them to step high over the plastic when going through the doorway into the whale.
- Enforce the various rules for being inside the whale, i.e. no running, no roughhousing, no sharp objects, etc.
(The rules posted inside and outside the whale.)

It would be great if the helper encourages people to read the signs to learn whale facts and even better if they share any information they have about humpbacks. Feel free to do a little whale chat if you see a number of people gathering around the whale! :)

If you have the time, I could also use volunteers to help with set up and strike down of the program activities. I will be setting up on Friday, 2/15/13 at 11:00 am and begin breaking down on Sunday, 2/17/13 at 5:00 pm.

Volunteers will be needed to help set up both animals. Volunteers will be needed for approximately 2 hours for set up. Volunteers should be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. Set up will be supervised by Deanna Hotchner as there are many detailed tasks involved.

Volunteers will be needed to assist in carrying bins filled with craft materials, organizing the materials, and setting up the tables. Also, inflatable animals, a tent and books need to be arranged on the carpeted area. This will take approximately an hour to an hour and a half.

For more information, please don't hesitate to contact Deanna Hotchner at #[masked] or the contact form on my website:

Thanks so much for your consideration!
