Chicago Burbs Outdoor Adventures and Hiking

This meetup group is for hikers of all experience levels who are looking to see new places and try new things. This provides a chance for people to make new friends through a shared love for the outdoors.

Most hikes will be around the Chicago and Suburban area and occasionally Wisconsin.
There is no charge for any hike and no donations excepted.

If you join us for a hike in a state park in Wisconsin you will have to pay a fee to park. This group does not cover your parking fees. Information on about state park fees will be posted on the event.

Hikes range from 3 to 12 miles and pace of 3mph or a little under. All ages welcome!

The events in this group will always be cross posted with https://www.meetup.com/chicagoland-trailblazers-hiking-group as an outreach to members in other geographic areas since we hike all over. This enables us to reach members of further away communities.

All rules/policies specified in https://www.meetup.com/chicagoland-trailblazers-hiking-group/ also apply to this group.

Camping trips will only be posted in the Chicagoland Trailblazers Hiking Group to ensure accurate rsvp count due to limited camping spots.

Group History
This meetup group was originally known as The NW Burbs Camping.
It was established back in July 2007! Previous organizers have held hundreds of fun social events and you can view past events on the calendar. The group was renamed at some point and had several different organizers over time.

Prior to July 5th, 2023 this meetup group had a broader scope which included camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, snow shoeing, campfires, and other activities.
The name was changed to The Great Lakes Outdoor Adventure Meetup.

I'm changing the name because I do not expect a heavy focus on other states at this time.
