ποΈ WHY UKRAINIAN VILLAGE?
Ukrainian Village is one of Chicago's most treasured west side neighborhoods β famous for its tree-lined streets π³, breathtaking churches βͺ, and deep ties to the city's immigrant history π.
The neighborhood's Ukrainian community began settling here in the late 19th century, establishing churches, cultural centers, and schools that still stand today. In 1983, the area was officially designated "Ukrainian Village" β a proud recognition of its enduring cultural identity. The neighborhood is also home to some of Chicago's most spectacular religious architecture, including the crown jewel St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, modeled after the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. πΊπ¦π
