Forest Preserve Tree Climbing

Details

We're gonna go to the forest preserve and string up some trees for climbing - get practice using ascenders and rappel techniques. Possibly also set up a rope swing or tyrollean traverse. No experience is necessary.

You don't need to stay the entire time, but FYI we may be there as late as 5-6 PM. The longer you can stay the more you can do!

It is highly recommended, but not mandatory that you have a climbing harness. You'll get to participate much more with one than without, but if you don't have one you're welcome to come hang out anyway. You can get a harness for about $50 at REI - http://www.rei.com/search?query=climbing+harness

If you also have any other climbing gear such as ropes or ascenders please do bring!

We are going to meet at the Maple Lake Overlook Parking Lot (NOT Maple Lake East!) in Palos Hills Forest Preserve - look up the coordinates on Google Earth - 41.716056° -87.892372°

If there are people on the wait list, preference will be given to members with gear, especially if you got rope, and if we got enough people coming with gear we will be able to accommodate additional people.
