Come on out and hack!
Let's try using Twilio to write an app that can phone home. http://www.twilio.com/ offers introductory accounts that are free for the first $30 transactions so we'll be able to try it out to see how it makes and receives phone calls and SMS.
All levels of Ruby expertise are welcome, including beginners.
Just bring yourself, a laptop with Ruby installed, and your cell phone for testing.
If you have time before the meetup, go ahead and open an account at www.twilio.com and then follow the instructions for "Give your sandbox a try" to initiate the account. You could also save time by installing the gem beforehand with
gem install twilio-rb --pre
(preceded by sudo on some machines).
