Let's work on our Ruby scripting skills. Everyone knows that Ruby can be used to write scripts but there are some scripting techniques you need to learn if you want to write good maintainable and testable scripts. Some of the scripting techniques to work on:

END and DATA to include data in the script file ruby command line options FILE == $0 to make a script both runnable and testable ARGV and ARGF to handle command line arguments OptionParser to handle complex command line arguments
Usually we hack on things by doing a spike but this time let's make sure we develop our script with tests.

All levels of Ruby expertise are welcome, including beginners. We'll pair up to do the Ruby coding.

Just bring yourself and a laptop with Ruby installed.

See you there!

We'll be looking at git logs in our scripts. To save time looking up git commands, here's one that shows the data we'll need:

git log --pretty=format:"%h %ad | %s%d [%an]" --date=short --name-only
