Description: Rails controllers seem to have a way of growing over time. This is usually due to the complexity involved with processing forms. The purpose of this talk is to help illuminate the sources of complexity as it relates to processing forms in Rails controllers and offer a more robust pattern for parsing form data, implementing tricky solutions like step forms and nested attributes, and writing service objects to handle form specific logic.

Bio-Ryan Francis: As an entrepreneur and web developer, Ryan is passionate about building creative solutions to complex problems. Having contributed to over 50 Ruby on Rails applications at LaunchPad Lab (a dev shop in Chicago), he has confronted a variety of problems and hopes to impart this experience and knowledge to other developers in the community.

ChicagoRuby is excited to expand to BLUE1647, a technology innovation center that includes software development and maker space. At ChicagoRuby: BLUE1647 we come together in an environment that fosters collaboration and creating. In keeping with that spirit we invite everyone to come meet new people, share ideas, learn new things, and build!

Let the group know what you’d like to take away from the meetings and what would be interesting to you. We are all students and teachers so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences with fellow Rubyists.
