What we’re about
CHIFOO (pronounced ‘ky - FOO’), Computer-Human Interaction Forum Of Oregon, a local professional chapter of the ACM SIGCHI, serves practicing professionals, academics and students in the Oregon and Southwest Washington region through lecture series, workshops and networking in the areas of User Experience, Usability and Interaction Design. CHIFOO’s Executive Council meets every other month to drive initiatives, manage chapter business and maintain the long-term health of the chapter. Interested in career development? Being an officer of the chapter is a great addition to your resume even as you learn the ropes of running a small non-profit. Elections are held in November each year. Consider nominating yourself. CHIFOO depends on its members to do all that it does. Whether you want to help maintain the website, assist with an event, write a book review, usher dignitaries to their speaking engagement, participate as a speaker or liaison with other professional societies in the area, CHIFOO has opportunities for you to participate. That’s okay! We’re a friendly bunch of UX professionals. Meeting new people and having substantive conversations is a large part of what we do on a daily basis in support of product development. You’ll be in good company!What if I forgot how to socialize and/or be cool/human and/or go with the flow and/or make conversation with strangers?
That’s ok. Many of us feel uncertain as the Portland social scene continues to come alive again. To make introductions and conversation a bit easier, we are offering a color-coded wristband system that will help signal your interests.Are there any fees or restrictions associated with this event?
While no fees are associated with attending this event, the venue requires everyone to be 21+. If you are under 21, fear not, we will have all-ages socials later in the year in addition to our regular Zoom-based lectures.
