Itinerary
For those meeting at the Sheffield interchange - platform D3. I’ll be there just before 10am. The bus departs at 10:09, we’ll get there for 11:15am and we’ll wait outside The Old Bakewell Pudding Shop for those who are coming by car. I’ll wait there 15min.
11:30am From there we’ll then walk up Castle Hill (24ft elevation) after that we are on the flat terrain on the Monsal trail where we see some of the disused railway before we stop off at either Hassop Station cafe or if we want to walk further it's an extra mile to Quackers cafe for refreshments if you wish and a rest or just come straight back to Bakewell for refreshments etc!
The walk from Bakewell to Hassop station cafe is 1.6mile so both ways is just over 3miles, or if we walk a bit further to Quackers cafe and then back to Bakewell it's 5.6miles - we can decide on the day.
(The walk will roughly take about 45min-1hr to get there and same back)
After the walk I’ve booked a table at The Old Bakewell Pudding Shop for 2:15pm but I can always cancel it if we change our minds and would rather savour something from the Big Bakewell Food & Drink Festival taking place and enjoy the entertainment of the live bands etc for the rest of the afternoon !
Depending on how much fun we’re having will depend on which bus we get back but there leave every half an hour, I’m probably aiming at approx 4pm.
