Description of Programme*
Bowling is enjoyed by various differently abled communities as an inherently adaptable sport. The Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) has engaged the SDSC team to conduct a short-term Learn-to-Bowl programme for their clients who are wheelchair users.
Roles & Responsibilities of Volunteers (non-exhaustive)
Volunteers will be supporting clients from CPAS during the sessions.w Volunteers will assist in key areas to ensure the smooth running of the sessions, including setting up and putting away equipment, and helping to ensure the clients' safety during the game.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers should have reasonable physical fitness, as volunteers may be required to lift certain items and move over short distances, such as transporting bowling balls or lightweight ramps (for the release of the bowling balls).
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to commit to the full duration of the indicated timeslot. As this is a short-term programme, volunteers should attend at least 5 out of the 8 sessions (dates listed above). Priority will be given to those who can commit to more sessions, as the lesson plan is progressive and will benefit the clients more if the volunteers learn along the way as well.
