Chilled Out Walk: Leeds to Hyde Park (Woodhouse Moor)

Chilled Out Walks are easy going walks where you can get to know new people whilst improving fitness. We generally meet in Leeds City Centre for easy access from bus and train connections, and go for a drink or coffee after the main event.

Hyde Park aka Woodhouse Moor

Unfortunately the new pedestrian walkway around Armley Gyratory still seems to be in the works, so we are doing a different route around the same length.

We'll meet in the city centre and head up to the student district for a walk around Hyde Park and the surrounding scenery. If you're new to Leeds this is great way to see more of the city, or otherwise is just a lovely route to walk anyway.

Meeting Point

• Location: Leeds City Square under the horse statue.
• Time: Please arrive by 1:45 PM. We will set off at 2:00 PM sharp.
• Public Transport: The meeting point is right next to the train station, and near to the various bus connections around the city centre. Its highly recommended you do not get the last bus or train which would have you arrive for the start time, since if its delayed or cancelled you'll be left behind by the group.
• Parking: This is easiest at the many multi-storey car parks in the city centre. Prices are quite high, expect to pay at least £2 per hour.
• Latecomers: If you're running late, please inform Kris before 2:00 PM and we can wait for a few minutes. If we haven't seen or heard from you by 2:00 PM, we'll assume you won't be attending.

Walk Details

• Destination: We'll loop back to the starting point.
• Distance: Around 3 miles.
• Challenge: Easy with a slight incline up into the park and some slightly uneven ground.
• Clothing: We will be on hard, artificial footpaths at all times so trainers are fine. Weather at this time of year can vary a lot, so check the forecast nearer the time and layer up appropriately. If light rain is expected, the event should go ahead but bring a raincoat or umbrella.
• Afterwards: We have the whole of the city centre to pick from! The host will follow what the group wants to do.

This event is weather-dependent. In case of severe rain, the walk will be rescheduled to a later date. Please check back here for updates before setting off. However, it will go ahead if light, intermittent rain is forecast, so assume the event is on unless advised otherwise.
