Saturday Assembly - new venue!
Details
For the latest Saturday Assembly we will be welcoming our very own group member Aman to give a talk about 'what Sikhi is, the history of the religion, and the modern day challenges faced by those who follow it'.
This time the event will be hosted at Flamingos Coffee House with hot and cold drinks available. After the talk, we can head to a bar for a drink.
About Saturday Assembly
These events are intended to be a place to share our thoughts and experiences so we can endeavor to have the best life possible whilst being kind to others.
This particular speaker has their own perspective however we encourage everyone to attend even if your perspective might be different.
About Flamingos Coffee House
The venue is a cafe inside Central Arcade, right in the middle of the city centre. Both the train and bus stations are within a 5 minutes walk.
Have something to say? We need members like you!
We need volunteer members to give a talk at this event and at future events.
Some topics could be (but are not limited to):
• Confidence and self esteem
• Dealing with mental health struggles
• Navigating relationships with your friends and family
• Dealing with negative emotions like stress and grief
• Balancing life with working and studying
The talk could include lessons from your own experiences, your studies, your culture and religion (keeping in mind of course the audience will be multi-faith). I absolutely encourage anyone with little or no public speaking to join in. The talks could be 100% scripted or entirely 'from the heart'. Pre-made audio and video recordings would be allowed as long as they were prepared by you, specifically for this.
In return you'd get a free drink or snack (depending on the venue), co-host credit for the event and public speaking experience for your work or study pursuits.
We have a more detailed speakers guide (work in progress) which you can view by clicking here. If you would like to speak, please send Kris a message with your idea for a talk.
