Speed Friending (RSVPs now open to all members!)
Details
RSVPs are now open to all members, recent or old, regardless of past attendance!
However it’s still very important to keep your RSVP up to date so the event can run smoothly. Do not no show to this. If you are know to repeatedly not turn up when RSVPed I reserve the right to give your slot to someone on the waitlist, if there is one.
You must provide at least 24 hours notice to change your RSVP otherwise it will be counted as a no show.
Meet people who want to meet people like you in this rapid fire format! Here's how it works:
- Upon arrival you'll be assigned a seat number. If you have an odd number, you remain seated for the whole event. If you have an even number, you'll be moving around with each whistle.
- Grab a drink (there won't be another chance for a little while) and find your seat.
- Get to know the first group you're placed with. Speed friending is done in groups, so you can talk to anyone around your table.
- The whistle blows! If you're on an even number this is your cue to move to the next table. Each time you'll move up by 4 seats - e.g. if you are in seat 2, you'll move to seat 6. There are 32 seats in total, so once you pass 32 you start counting from 1.
- Get to know your second group. You have exactly 10 minutes until the next whistle...
There will be at least one break to grab a drink/stretch your legs plus once it’s all over you can freely mingle with the rest of the group.
You may bring a single +1 if you add them to your RSVP. If you’d like to stay with them for the event make sure you sit next to each other (not opposite since you would be split up) e.g. seat 5 + 7 or seat 10 + 12.
There's NOT a sheet to indicate who you do or don't want to stay in touch with - just join the group chat (if you haven't already) and look out for upcoming events.
Don't be late. Once the whistle blows the system is 'locked in' and we're not able to accommodate new arrivals. I appreciate many people will be coming straight from work but you should always get an earlier bus or train if available - delays are frequent at this time of day which would mean you miss it, but if you arrive early you'll have more time to meet the other members before the event starts.
Due to the nature of this event, its really important to follow the host(s) instructions. It goes without saying you should be open to meeting everyone, this isn't the event to be picky about who you talk to.
