About us

Chill & Skill is a community for people who want to learn new skills, practice them in a safe space, and build real professional connections.

The Events
We run fun, moderated skill-learning events where you can:

  • Learn a new skill (or go deeper on one you already have)
  • Practice in a supportive environment
  • Understand how Canada’s skills landscape is changing (jobs, hiring, upskilling trends)
  • Network with people across industries in a human, low-key way

The Vibe
Professional, welcoming, and genuinely fun:

  • Moderated open discussion
  • Question-driven learning and real conversations
  • Equal space to share, learn, and meet people
  • Deep connection over shallow networking

The Organizers
We are Avneet and Madhav. We are passionate about building a learning community and meeting new people as we navigate the work and job spaces. We also run QurioSkill, a Canadian Skill Training Company.

Claude Code Harness Building Workshop

A hands-on workshop on building the environment around Claude Code: the instructions, checks, rules, and automations that decide how well a coding agent works in a specific codebase.

The same model behaves very differently from one project to the next. Most of that difference comes from what surrounds it: what it knows about the project, how it finds out it made a mistake, what it is blocked from doing, and what happens automatically after each step. This is called the harness, and a team can build it on purpose.

Each attendee works through a starter enterprise codebase, adding one harness layer at a time, then applies the same steps to a repository of their own.

The group is capped at 10 so there is time to look at each person’s setup and help when something doesn’t work.

What the workshop covers

  • CLAUDE.md and project rules. Writing down the conventions and commands the agent cannot work out from the code, and keeping that file short enough to be followed.
  • Feedback loops. Setting up a fast test command and writing a test first, so the agent can catch and fix its own errors.
  • Permission rules. Allow, ask, and deny lists that block access to secrets and to code owned by other teams. These are enforced by Claude Code itself, so they hold even when an instruction is missed.
  • Hooks. Scripts that run at fixed points, such as formatting every edited file or blocking edits to existing database migrations.
  • Skills and subagents. Packaging a repeated team procedure as a skill, and setting up a read-only reviewer that checks changes against team conventions.

Who it’s for
Developers and technical leads who have used Claude Code or another AI coding tool and want more consistent results from it. Attending the earlier Harness Engineering session is helpful but not required.

What to bring

  • A laptop with git, a terminal, and a code editor
  • Claude Code installed and signed in. Claude Code needs a paid Claude plan or Anthropic API access, which is separate from the workshop fee.
  • Optional: a repository to work on in the last block. A personal or open-source project works best, since work code may not be allowed in a shared session.
