Network over a drink with Chicago's biotechnology professionals and build a community of biotechnologists, entrepreneurs, investors, and enthusiasts. We're continuing our series of networking opportunities to discuss challenges, opportunities, and frustrations while enjoying an evening with your professional peers from around Chicagoland.
We are excited to announce our May fermenter will take place at the Mousetrap from Off Color Brewing. We're continuing to move around Chicago but promise to continue to focus on networking in its purest form.
The Biotech Fermenter is an event that is open to everyone, and the organizers strongly believe that working in a biotechnology future should be accessible to all Chicagoans, regardless of race, gender expression, sexual identity, national origin, or any other protected class. The Biotech Fermenter is a space for open and friendly sharing of ideas, and we are all responsible for ensuring everyone feels safe and respected. We are committed to hosting inclusive events, and will not tolerate any actions or attitudes contrary to our deeply held beliefs in inclusivity. By attending this event, you are agreeing to uphold this standard and acknowledge that the organizers reserve the right to restrict attendance.
If you have any concerns about another person's behavior, you may file a report via email with the organizers Andy Scarpelli (andy@chitownbio.org ) and Ryan Brown (ryanbrown2234@gmail.com). We are committed to ensuring that the Biotech Fermenter is a safe space for all, and will take precautionary measures or responsive actions to uphold these ideals. - May Beach Cleanup!!Pratt Boulevard Beach and Park, Chicago, IL
ChiTownBio is dedicated to putting the knowledge, skills, and tools of biotechnology into the hands of all Chicagoans who want to explore the living world and use it to benefit our community. Understanding the biotechnology needs of the future requires knowing what problems we're facing and what we need to be focusing on it. One of the biggest problems facing our planet and the biological world is the overuse of and waste buildup from plastics. What exactly does that mean, and what can we do about it? Rather than just talk about it, let's go out and do something about it.
It's May, and it's officially time to get out to Chicago's beaches, so we're hosting an event with the Alliance for the Great Lakes cleaning up a local beach, trying to figure out what waste is out there, and then discussing the implications of what we find. Join us for a day at the beach and fun in the sun. Some of our members and organizers will be there answering questions and sharing information on what will hopefully be a beautiful Chicago Spring morning.

As the weather gets warmer, we're hosting an event with the Alliance for the Great Lakes cleaning up a local beach, trying to figure out what waste is out there, and then discussing the implications of what we find. Join us for a day at the beach and fun in the sun. Our members and organizers will be there answering questions and sharing information in a socially distant manner.
This time, we're partnering with the group ChiPride to clean up one of Chicago's most iconic beaches! We'd love to have you join us in learning about ecology, data collection, and making the world a better place.

We are heading back to visit our old friends at HappiLabs. HappiLabs is a local, small business that provides digital products and services to scientists, with their feature product being the Virtual Lab Manager and a growing ecommerce store for lab supplies. Their mission is to improve the happiness of scientists and the quality of their research. The event will be an outdoor event taking place at 2201 West Campbell Park Dr. Thank you to HappiLabs for hosting the event at their location! Open mic opportunities for entrepreneurs and a networking social will be led by organizers from CHIentist and ChiTownBio.
