ChiTownBio Book Club: I Contain Multitudes!

Details

• What we'll do
We're excited to talk about our second book selection for our book club. This time, we'll be discussing "I Contain Multitudes: The Microbes Within Us and a Grander View of Life" by science writer Ed Yong. Ed is an amazing science communicator who is a journalist working for the Atlantic, but he has also been featured in National Geographic, the New Yorker, Wired, Nature, New Scientist, Scientific American, and many more. He's won numerous awards on his writing, has been featured on Radio Lab, and has a widely watched TED talk that we recommend (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfqO1U6lfDs). You can read more about Ed at his website (https://edyong.me/). Come join us as we talk about his book as well as host a discussion on the implications of the human microbiome project, the effects of the bacteria on our everyday lives, and the quirks and eccentricities of life that grows on a level just small enough that we can't see it.

• What to bring
As always, bring your thoughts and opinions, and bring a suggestion for the next book club!

• Important to know
If conversation is lively, allocate some extra time to visit a local bar or eatery!
