Fungi Exploration w/Chicago Mushroom Club @ the North Park Village Nature Center
Details
There are so many great places in Chicago to get outside and enjoy the plants and animals all around us, but have you ever been curious about the other large organisms we share our city with? That's right: we're doing an event centered completely on fungi, and we're partnering with the North Park Village Nature Center and the Chicago Mushroom Club in order to culture some interest in our fungal little friends.
We're excited to be doing this for the second time! We love our friends at the Nature Center, and it's an ideal place to learn about mushrooms and the fungi of the Midwest. It's also a great thing to do with Dad on Father's Day!
This event is open to the public, and will be an exciting opportunity to learn more about what fungi can be found in one of Chicago's best nature parks. We'll be joined by experts from the Chicago Mushroom club as we wander through the park looking for fungal specimens to behold and identify. The members of ChiTownBio's laboratory will be on hands with pre-prepared agar plates, and after the mushrooms are identified, we'll take some small samples to return to our lab so we can culture each and examine the capabilities of each of the mushrooms we come across.
We really hope you come and join us for a day of exciting mushroom hunting, identification, and culturing as we enjoy some of Chicago's great outdoor spaces. And bring a friend! We're excited to have you bring along your favorite Fun-guy (Or fun-gal!)!
