Welcome to the Christchurch Bitcoin meetup. If you are interested in learning about Bitcoin from both a monetary and technological perspective & connecting with other Bitcoiners, wonderful! You’ve come to the right place! We’re here to help you on your journey stacking sats and stacking friendships :)
We are Bitcoin-only - which means that we don’t talk about altcoins (with the occasional exception of stablecoins) or trading. We see Bitcoin as a profoundly liberatory technology that allows individuals to save in a money that can’t be debased, on a truly decentralized network where your transactions can’t be censored or your wealth frozen. For a myriad of reasons, we see altcoins as largely being a minefield of outright scams, virtually all of which won’t exist in a decade.
If you are crypto-curious, please feel free to come along, though. We’d be happy to explain why we believe Bitcoin is the only asset that matters.
