The best exercise for speaking is speaking!

Christchurch Speakers is a relaxed, supportive and light-hearted monthly meetup where everyone gets at least two opportunities to speak.

Build your confidence by delivering prepared or impromptu speeches, PowerPoint presentations, telling jokes or stories, or simply having fun with speaking exercises.

Both experienced speakers or complete beginners, will improve with more stage time and encouraging feedback.

If you want to practise a work presentation, best man’s speech, talking about your last holiday or your pet goldfish — or simply improve your English — here’s your chance!

Each monthly meetup may include:

• quick round-the-room icebreaker
• prepared speeches
• impromptu speaking
• drama exercises and role-playing
• readings from books, poems, articles, movies or plays
• speaking games and activities

We’re all about learning by doing and getting a little better each time.
No pressure to be polished or perfect. Our favourite saying? You can’t get it wrong!

Organised by two experienced Toastmasters, we know how to make you feel welcome, have fun and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Cost is $5 cash to help cover venue costs, tea, coffee, biscuits and advertising.
