WHO WE ARE:
Christian Apologetics Toastmasters of Raleigh is a chartered club of Toastmasters International. We follow the Toastmasters path of self-improvement while improving speaking and soft skills, yet this club focuses on discussing Christian theology and apologetics. The topics we discuss are primarily topics regarding answering questions and challenges to the Christian faith.
The founders of this club are long-time members of Toastmasters and have even founded other successful clubs. We are dedicated to helping individuals improve their speaking, organizational, and leadership skills using established Toastmasters principles. Toastmaster is the world's premier speaking self-improvement organization, and this club will not try to reinvent the wheel.
WHAT IS APOLOGETICS
The word "apologetics" comes from the Greek word "Apologia" which means to give an answer in defense of an idea. In scripture it is the same word Peter uses:
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
Our hope is that this club can help Christians fulfill the scripture in their daily lives.
HOW THIS CLUB IS DIFFERENT
While we follow all of the Toastmaster's learning paths and meeting formats, this club focuses on Christian Theology and Apologetics issues. Speakers will present arguments from a Christian worldview and defend those ideas. New speakers will learn how to organize their thoughts and logically and methodically share their faith. We will do all of this while developing and sharpening our speaking style and skill.
