If you love all things Star Trek, join me to play sample scenarios of the game that introduced the Star Trek Universe to role-playing gamers back in the early 80s. This session will be held at the Florence Branch of the Boone County Public Library on October 11th.

Disclaimer: This event is not sponsored by the Boone County Public Library (but, they do like me at the Florence Branch.)

The FASA Star Trek Role Playing Game is based on simple percentage rolls against skill targets. To succeed, you must roll lower than the target. The evil, malevolent, and vicious Game Master (just kidding) can add benefits or subtract penalties from the targeted skills.

The game is played on the tabletop using miniatures and game maps. Movement is based upon a player's action points, the type of movement, and any benefits or penalties the GM decides.

For this introduction, I'll provide all the resources you need to play. These include game maps, miniatures, percentage dice, pre-rolled characters, and short scenarios to demonstrate game play. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and imagination.

Some simple role-playing scenarios I'm considering include:

  1. Damage control during a starship combat situation.
  2. Interacting with hostile aliens on a planet surface.
  3. Exploring the ruin of a crashed, alien starship.
  4. Getting into a brawl with those aggressive Klingons on shore leave.
  5. Shooting it out with some determined opponents.
  6. Analyzing a dangerous alien artifact.

If you're interested, come join me for however long you can stay. You don't need to stay for the whole session. Walk-in and outs throughout the day are more than welcome.

This is a friendly game session. All are welcome. :-)

And, as always, thanks for being gamers!
