Bitcoin Socratic Seminar (Custody, Interest Rates, AI, more!)
Details
Folks liked the format of our Coldcard roundtable a few weeks ago, so we're running it back. We haven't done an honest Socratic Seminar in a couple years, so let's do it!
Instead of a single presentation, we will review and discuss a few different Bitcoin topics/current events together.
Topics:
- In the aftermath of the Coldcard fiasco, how can you minimize trust? Can you generate a seed phrase entirely offline.
- Piggybacking off that, how sovereign should your stack be? Do we need to rethink not your keys not your coins for ALL of your coin?
- Bitcoin and the macro: Interest rates are going higher, and bitcoin seems to be unaffected. Typically, “risk assets” don’t do well when rates go up, but bitty seems to be fine. What’s the deal?
- Deeter and Clay will recap Imagine IF conference in Nashville this week
- Bitcoin miners converting to AI data centers
- AI sucking the air out of the room (https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/07/flop-ai-boom-arthur-hayes-bitcoin-bitmex-coinferencex-.html)
No expertise required. The goal is a good-faith discussion where curious people can compare notes, ask better questions, and sharpen their thinking together.
