Now that summer is upon us, my thoughts turn once again to teaching Tai Chi Ch'uan. For those who are curious, the COVID pandemic killed this group, and all the regulars who already knew Tai Chi or an allied martial art fell out of touch. I miss Push Hands, but you can't play until you know the Form. That is to say, you can't walk until you know how to crawl. Unfortunately, it seems as if no one has the patience to learn and practice the Form.

My lineage is as follows: My teacher was Gene Golden, his teacher was William C.C. Chen, and William's teacher was none other than the legendary Professor Chen Man-Ching. Now Gene on more than one occasion complained that William held back a piece of knowledge, that there was a "secret" teaching of Tai Chi. I believe there are clues to this "secret" teaching all over William's "Body Mechanics of Tai Chi Chuan". It is really quite simple--the "secret" teaching is sitting meditation. The picture for this event, as well as the group, is the filled flyleaf of William's text. In the white part of the yin yang symbol is a person doing the Form, and in the black section a person doing Zazen.

I want to teach the Form, Push Hands, and Tai Chi Boxing. Since I am not trying to start a dojo, and I have my necessities fulfilled, I require no payment. You heard that, class will always be free.

Class would consist of the following. Meets every Saturday at 9 am for two hours (9 am until 11 am). The majority of the first hour consists of group meditation in the Zendo of my home. Since my Zendo is not a great hall, the class is limited to 6 people. The second hour consists of me teaching the Form. It usually takes 3 to 4 months of diligent practice and repetition to memorize all the movements. Once everyone has "mastered" the Form, the second hour will shift to Push Hands, and later Tai Chi Boxing.

I hope this makes sense. If you have any questions, please message me.
