What we’re about
Therapeutic Book Study Groups
I am excited to expand my group offerings (I have been running the Compassionate Listening and Authentic Relating Meetups for 2 years) to include the study of various spiritual, cognitive behavioral, meditation and mindfulness practices. In these groups, we will discuss these topics using books focused on spirituality, psychology, self-help, and fiction with the goal of personal growth.
In group, we will review the content of the book/chapter of focus, examine how to apply the items to your life, and have opportunity to discuss personal matters related to the current book of study. Using my therapeutic knowledge and experience, these groups will differ from traditional book clubs in their focused subject matter as well as the emotional container that will be set and maintained.
The format of each group session will be as follows:
-In each group, you will need to come prepared having read the current month's chapter or book (this is not a general therapy group open to those not interested in the book of focus).
-We will begin each group with a centering meditation, review agreements for emotional safety for group members, discuss the current chapter's main points, have large or small group reflection exercises to practice/explore the concepts, and close with silent reflection and intention setting.
