Siri Says: Yes, I Can Help - Introduction to SiriKit
When Siri was introduced on the iPhone 4S in October 2011, Siri was restricted to working only with Apple-provided apps such as maps and calendar. In 2018 with iOS 12, Apple opened up SiriKit to interface with any app, and in particular, enabled Siri Shortcuts. A Shortcut is a way for a user to record a phrase or command that Siri will recognize and then open your app and navigate the user to the place in your app that you designate. This can be a powerful aide to users to get to the frequently used places in your app by simply speaking to Siri. Siri makes your app easier to use and therefore, more valuable to your users.
In this presentation, we will start with the basics of SiriKit, go over the structure of shortcuts, and follow through with an implementation of some shortcuts into a business app.
So, the next time Siri asks "Can I help?", the answer is a resounding: "YES".
