Seed Collection in Whistler Woods

We’ll be collecting native plant seeds in Whistler Woods’ woodland, savanna, and/or prairie units, depending on what’s ready to be picked.

Seed is either harvested by hand or by using pruners to remove the seed and then placed into paper bags or buckets. At the end of the workday, we will combine all the seed together by species to keep in storage until it's cleaned.

Whistler Woods staff will provide gloves, pruners if needed, and bags and buckets for the seed. Participants should plan to bring water and to wear long pants, long sleeves, heavy socks, and sturdy close-toed shoes that can get dirty/wet.

The meeting spot will be near the end of the parking lot where there are several picnic tables.

There are several portalets in the parking lot. The site does not have running water.
