River Cleanup at the Wild Mile

Details

Come join us as we volunteer at the Wild Mile with Urban Rivers! We will be picking up trash along the river and learning about aquatic plastic pollution and its impact to the ecosystem. The event includes a walking tour of the area, covering history, ecology and design.

The Wild Mile Chicago is an in-progress, mile-long floating park along the North Branch Canal of the Chicago River. The Wild Mile functions as a public park, open-air museum, botanical garden, kayaker destination, classroom for the community, and habitat for native wildlife.

We'll meet at the entrance of the Wild Mile at 905 W Eastman St (behind the REI, right near the river).

Getting there:

  • Transit: near North/Clybourn red line stop & several bus routes (8, 72)
  • Free street parking available in the neighborhood
