Today is our second try at this walk, an appreciation of John Nova Lomax. Lomax was a Texas writer who, between 2006 and 2010, wrote a series of articles for the Houston Press about his epic journeys: beginning with a ride on the Metro System out to the end of the line, he would walk back into town where he was always willing to give a moment to the dive bars, abandoned furniture, lost shopping carts and the people invariably found nearby. His writings, gathered together into the book, The Sole of Houston, by his father John Lomax III, reveal his willingness to recognize and regard the wet crusty edges of the fabric of the city with its Wows and Weirds!?! and the occasional Maybe We Should Just Keep Moving.

Starting at St Arnold's Brewing, we will catch the train up North Main to the end of the line where we will disembark and make our way back to downtown by way of Fulton Avenue, the Moody Park, and what ever else catches our eyes.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. The heat in Texas is always a concern so let someone know if you are having a hard time. For more information about hiking check out this very useful hiking website: https://www.hatsandmore.org/

Our organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness needed to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.
