City Walk Early NASA, The Orange Show and Sugarhill Studios, 5.5 miles
Details
There is a lot to see on this short walk. Starting at Gragg Park next to the Farnsworth and Chambers Bldg, an early location used by NASA as they set up to begin the moon shot in earnest, we then cross the bayou and go through Smither Park and the Orange Show with some amazing and odd tile work. On to MacGregor Park we cross Old Spanish Trace and go into Houston's Produce Row where California's produce arrives to become Houston's dinner. Then a hop, skip, and jump over to the utterly non-descript Sugarhill Studios.
With the lengthening days, we are starting our walks later and going a bit shorter. The weather is warming and it is recommended to wear loose, light-colored clothing.
Many NASA locations:
NASA's Original "interim" facilities

"the site of the original recording of Willie Nelson’s “Night Life” (rejected by his label because it sounded too “jazzy”), a slew of George Jones hits in the mid-1950s, a run of Freddy Fender classics in the mid-1970s, the most gloriously twisted psychedelia by the legendary 13th Floor Elevators and The Red Krayola and the incomparable blues of Houston’s native son, Lightnin’ Hopkins."
Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. The heat in Texas is always a concern so let someone know if you are having a hard time. For more information about hiking check out this very useful hiking website: https://www.hatsandmore.org/
