CivicTechBrampton 19th Meetup Technologists For Democracy: Autonomous vehicles
Location not specified yetCivic Tech event for networking and ideation. We'll be hybrid: online and in-person.
Does the thought of autonomous vehicles on our public highways make you excited or concerned?Whether it's robotaxis or driverless trucks, this technology is being introduced in ways that could significantly disrupt public life. From displacing workers and putting vehicles on our roads with unclear lines of accountability, to collecting data from the everyday lives of Canadians that may be shared with non-Canadian technology companies, these changes raise important public-interest questions.
We need to make sure our voices are heard and send a strong message that these concerns cannot be ignored.Inviting all technologists, students and citizens interested in Democracy Civic Tech projects.
The focus for this week is Autonomous Vehicles!
Adam Motaouakkil will present Technologists For Democracy and their campaign highlighting th impact of Autonomous vehicles which are planned to be deployed as RoboTaxis on the roads of Toronto.
Check out their website here: https://techfordemocracy.ca/.
New to Civic Tech? You are definitely welcome! We will all be learning from each other. Just knowing what projects people are working on, sparks ideas about new civic tech projects.
