*This is the virtual registration for this event. To attend in person, please RSVP here.

Topic: Waterloo Region Votes

  • Paul Nijjar from CivictechWR will give a quick tour of https://waterlooregionvotes.org , an election information portal used in the 2018 and 2022 Waterloo Region municipal elections. Paul will lead us through a tour of the site's main features, justify its existence, and touch on the technology stack that powers it.

Speaker: Paul Nijjar

  • Paul is a reluctant techie who has volunteered with Civictech Waterloo Region since 2018, where he helped with site-building and data entry on the Waterloo Region Votes project. He also contributes event listings to https://watcamp.com and helps organize a local Linux user group at https://kwlug.org .

Join us via Zoom (webcams and mics optional, but encouraged):

  • A Zoom link will be made available to everyone who RSVPs!

Agenda:

  • 7:00-7:20 = Welcome and Introductions

Accessibility:

  • We're exploring ways to make our hybrid hacknights more accessible. At the moment we provide video and audio of the presentation through Zoom and automated closed captioning.

About Us:

  • Our weekly civic tech hacknights bring together Torontonians (designers, coders, urban planners, government staff, mappers, policy-makers, students, communications strategists, community organizers, and more) who share an interest in making Toronto more responsive, prosperous, sustainable, and equitable through design, tech, and data. Come and be part of it!
