About us
Love great literature but don’t have time for 400-page novels?
Join us for a weekly discussion of classic short stories drawn from The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction — one of the most respected collections of literary fiction. Each week, we’ll read a single short story (usually 10–30 pages), making it easy to fit into a busy schedule.
Why short stories?
• You can finish the reading in an evening
• We explore a new author every week
• Every meeting brings fresh themes and perspectives
• No long-term commitment to one book
From Chekhov to Joyce, Hemingway to Baldwin, we’ll work our way through the great masters of short fiction — discussing themes, style, historical context, and what still resonates today. No academic background required!
