This is the place!
In this Book Club we focus on major classics from England and around the world. There will be a monthly recommended read (please keep in mind that some classics might be a bit bigger!). \
The goal is to create a community of people who love to learn and discuss the value of classics in a casual atmosphere.
We might also meet occasionally to explore book shops around London.
The book club will be less formal and just a way to socialise, share thoughts on what we read and finding bookish friends over a nice drink or coffee.
We will meet monthly around Battersea/Chelsea/Vauxhall/Clapham (depending on location availability). \

All events are free of charge other than your own costs for drinks and/or snacks at the pub/cafe to support them for hosting us.

Description:
Quincas Borba is a novel written by the Brazilian writer Machado de Assis. It was first published in 1891. It is also known in English as Philosopher or Dog? The novel was principally written as a serial in the journal A Estação from 1886 to 1891. It was definitively published as a book in 1892 with some small, but significant changes from the serialized version.Please note that this book may be titled either 'Philosopher or Dog' or 'Quincas Borba' in English, depending on the translation. Read whichever one you wish, but note that the latter (the title of the more recent translation, which is the same as the title in the original Portuguese) may be easier to acquire.
