This is the place!
In this Book Club we focus on major classics from England and around the world. There will be a monthly recommended read (please keep in mind that some classics might be a bit bigger!). \
The goal is to create a community of people who love to learn and discuss the value of classics in a casual atmosphere.
We might also meet occasionally to explore book shops around London.
The book club will be less formal and just a way to socialise, share thoughts on what we read and finding bookish friends over a nice drink or coffee.
We will meet monthly around Battersea/Chelsea/Vauxhall/Clapham (depending on location availability). \

October Classic: At the Mountains of Madness - H.P. Lovecraft

Description:
At the Mountains of Madness is a science-fiction and cosmic horror novella by the American author H. P. Lovecraft, written in February–March 1931 and published in three installments in 1936. Rejected that year by Weird Tales editor Farnsworth Wright on the grounds of its length,[1] it was originally serialized in the February, March, and April 1936 issues of Astounding Stories. It has been reproduced in numerous collections.
The story details the events of a disastrous expedition to Antarctica in September 1930, and what is found there by a group of explorers led by the narrator, Dr. William Dyer of Miskatonic University. Throughout the story, Dyer details a series of previously untold events in the hope of deterring another group of explorers who wish to return to the continent. These events include the discovery of an ancient civilization older than the human race, and realization of Earth's past told through various sculptures and murals.1 attendee

Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is an 1818 Gothic novel[a] written by English author Mary Shelley. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a sapient creature from different body parts in an unorthodox scientific experiment. Shelley started writing the story when she was 18 and staying in Bath,[2] and the first edition was published anonymously in London on 1 January 1818, when she was 20. Her name first appeared in a French translation published in Paris in 1821.
