About us
Austin's bi-weekly hangout for anyone building, creating, or experimenting with Claude AI
Tired of working with Claude alone? Want to show what you're making, get help when you're stuck, or just geek out with other people exploring what's possible with AI?
Claude and Coffee is a casual gathering where we meet at coffee shops around Austin to share what we're creating, help each other solve problems, and discover new ways to work with Claude - whether you're writing code, crafting stories, building tools, designing workflows, or just seeing what this thing can do.
What to Expect
- Show and tell: Share what you're building (totally optional, 5-15 minutes)
- Problem solving: Stuck on something? Bring it - we'll figure it out together
- Knowledge sharing: Tips, workflows, discoveries, and "holy shit it can do THAT?" moments
- Casual atmosphere: Coffee shop vibes, peer-to-peer conversations, no formal presentations
- Rotating venues: We move around Austin to stay accessible
Who Should Come
- People using Claude for creative projects, writing, art, or storytelling
- Folks building tools, apps, workflows, or automations
- Anyone curious about what AI assistance can actually do
- People with questions about how any of this works
- Hobbyists, professionals, tinkerers, experimenters
- All skill levels welcome - from "I just started last week" to "I've been doing this for years"
You don't need to code. You don't need to present. You don't even need to have built anything yet. Just bring curiosity and whatever questions you have.
Format
We meet every other week at different coffee shops across Austin. Each meetup runs 60-90 minutes and follows a loose structure:
- Casual arrivals: Grab coffee, say hi, settle in
- Show and share: Anyone who wants to can show what they're building (5-15 min, volunteer basis)
- Open conversation: Questions, troubleshooting, tips, discoveries
- Problem solving: Bring challenges you're stuck on - collaborative brainstorming happens naturally
Some meetups lean more toward "look at this cool thing I made," others lean toward "how do I get this to work?" Both are good. We follow the energy of the group.
About the Organizer
I'm Jerry Jackson (@UncleTallest), and I've been tinkering with computers for longer than I care to admit. I'm currently building some infrastructure tools for AI workflows, but honestly, I started this meetup because I was tired of building stuff in a vacuum.
If you're making things with Claude - whatever "things" means to you - and you want to hang out with other people doing the same, this is for you.
Location Philosophy
We rotate coffee shops to make the meetup accessible across Austin. Venues include:
- Genuine Joe's
- Halcyon
- Bennu Coffee
- Epoch Coffee
- Flightpath Coffee
All venues chosen for: good wifi, space for conversations, welcoming atmosphere, and solid coffee.
Ground Rules
- Be kind: We're all figuring this out
- Be curious: Ask questions, share what you know
- Be respectful: Different approaches are valid, different projects are valid
- Be builders: We're here to create and explore, not just consume
- Buy coffee: Support the venues that host us
