The Clear Creek Makerspace is one of Coloradoβs largest makerspaces and among Metro Denverβs go-to destinations for hands-on DIY and creative expression. Located in the heart of Wheat Ridge, just 15 minutes from downtown Denver, we offer 7,500 square feet of space designed to help you make (almost) anything you can imagine!
Whatβs a makerspace? Just think of us as a gym for your creative muscles. We provide affordable access to high-tech tools that you might not have at home. Got a hankering to laser-etch your face onto toast? Weβve got you covered. Want to 3D print a realistic replica of your cat? Meow youβre talking. Itching to weld together a life-size metal T-Rex for your front yard? Weβll help you ignite that Jurassic spark.

This hands-on workshop will guide you step-by-step to build a cutting board! We'll learn this fun skill and how to safety use woodshop tools
No prior experience needed for this course, all supplies and materials are provided. Partcipants will be introduced to each machine, provided operational overview, safety considerations, and have hands-on experience.
During this 4-hour workshop learn how to build your own custom hardwood cutting board. I will expertly guide you as you learn how to safely use a variety of essential wood shop tools. You will gain practical skills in milling rough lumber, edge-gluing boards, clamping, sanding, and applying a food-safe finish. We will also cut a single "weave", adding a mind-boggling detail to your boards. Willing partners can swap half their board to take the second glue-up to the next level!
By the end of the workshop, you'll proudly take home a beautiful board you made yourself.
$150 per participant, $120 for CCM members. CCM members will receive an email to the Woodshop Quiz at the end of this course. Passing this short quiz is part of the requirement for members to gain 24/7 personal woodshop access.
Please wear comfortable well-fitted clothing, close-toed shoes, put your hair up, and be prepared to get a little dirty :)

Discover the joy of turning raw wood into something beautiful with my 5-part woodworking seriesβdesigned for absolute beginners and guided step-by-step. - Woodworking IV: Dovetailed Step Stool -- Advanced joinery such as handcut dovetails. This course will focus on layout, cutting pins and tails for a perfect fit... and fixing gaps post-mortem.
- Woodworking V: Bending & Laminations Serving Tray (TBD) -- Advanced topics such as bending on a hot iron and using multi-part or structural forms to build laminations.

This 3-hour workshop focuses on the sliding dovetail and handcut mortise and tenons. These joints are using in cabinetry, chairs, desks, and other fine furniture. Participants will build a bench hook and wood mallet. These are essential woodworking tools and we will be using them throughout the next workshop in this series, Dovetailed Step Stool.
Emphasis is placed on safety, accuracy, alignment, and understanding when and why each joint is used.

Ready to spark your creativity and join the ranks of metalworking masters? Ever wanted to learn how to weld one hunk of steel to another block of steel? Dive into SHOP151: Intro to Solid Core MIG Welding (GMAW), where we'll turn up the heat (and the Inert Gas) on your DIY skills! This $60 class runs 60-minutes and aims to be a crash course that will have you fusing metal like a pro in no time.
This class expands on our introductory course SHOP150, upping the game by using solid MIG wire and a 75-25 percent mix of Argon and Co2 INERT GAS to shield your welds from nasty contamination. Less smoke! Less Spatter! Zero slag!
It's a step up in welding technology with a step up in the price of the class. Inert Gasses are kinda' expensive!ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
In this hands-on session, you'll be introduced to:
The Basics of Welding- Welding 101: Demystifying the art of melting metal (without melting your shoes)
- What MIG welding is and its advantages
- Safety considerations in welding
- General MIG welder anatomy MIG Welding Equipment

- Learning the lingo that'll make you sound like a welding wizard - MIG welder components and their functions
- Additional materials used for MIG welding (wire, shielding gas, metals)
- Preparing your workspace and equipment for welding MIG Welding Best Practices

- Setting up your MIG welder (wire feed speed, voltage)
- Setting the proper inert gas flow for shielding
- Basic welding techniques (gun angle, travel speed, beads)
We'll cover essential safety tips, machine setup, and basic techniques that'll have you laying down beautiful beads. It's important to us that you enter and leave the makerspace with the same number of fingers and toes that you entered with. That's why every CCM member, no matter their prior experience, needs to attend SAF101: Basic Safety in the Clear Creek Makerspace before using any equipment on their own.
This mandatory course lays the foundation for a safe and successful experience, guiding you through our comprehensive safety protocols, policies, and the exciting array of equipment available to unleash your potential.
Over the 60-minute workshop, you'll learn key facts like:- not everything's a hammer
- where it's acceptable to crunch on those crumbly granola bars, and
- how to avoid violating the Geneva Convention
After SAF101, you'll receive an automated email inviting you to join the CreateEd program, our one-stop-shop for tracking your training progress and reserving equipment. No join code needed -- just follow the instructions in the follow-up email after completing SAF101.

Makerspace-specific safety rules and emergency procedures, including:
- Marked zones within CCM,
- PPE requirements in those zones, and
- How to interpret safety cards and find important info
