GIANT (2026) @ Cedar Lee Theater / Anatolia Cafe
Details
In a 1983 article denouncing the invasion of Lebanon, the beloved children’s author Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) went beyond criticism of Israel’s military actions to condemn Jews in general. Giant reimagines his publishers’ attempts to persuade Dahl to retract his anti-Semitic remarks. A play-on-screen, Giant was recorded at a live performance in London’s theater district, were every show for its entire fourteen-week run sold out. Actor John Lithgow won both a Tony and an Olivier Award for his portrayal of Dahl.
“shocking, challenging, uncomfortable....spectacularly good” - The Evening Standard
“Lithgow is brilliant as Dahl” - Time Literary Supplement
“dark and sharp-toothed as one of Dahl’s fictive monsters....This is what theatre is for.”
- The Guardian
