Hi Jim,

I know some of you went to see Chaplin at the orchestra before but do you know if anyone is going to organize an meet up for "Modern Times" or should I just get a ticket on my own?

Hi everyone,

2013 DUES

I wanted to remind everyone that we have our annual dues coming up for 2013.  If you paid your dues for November or December in 2012, this will also count for 2013.   This goes for the website costs, guest speakers such as Ichorito and an occasional free movie for Organizers.  Thank you for taking care of this soon.

Your dues of $5.00 are very important in  order for us to host directors coming into town and pay for the website.  Please select the link or pay your organizer AT THE NEXT GROUP EVENT if you haven't already.

Silver Linings Playbook - Tuesday at 6 PM

David Russel's latest film Silver Linings is getting some good press as an Oscar favorite.  Please join us for another film that bucks the Hollywood trend.   While unfairly categorized as a romantic comedy, it is actually good!  We start off at the Stone Oven.

A Royal Affair - Friday in 7ish time frame

A ROYAL AFFAIR is the true story of an ordinary man who wins the queen's heart and starts a revolution. Centering on the intriguing love triangle between the ever more insane Danish King Christian VII, the royal physician who is a man of enlightenment and idealism Struensee and the young but strong Queen Caroline Mathilda.  This Danish film should be quite interesting.

Anna Karenina - Sunday at 4 PM

Perhaps one of the biggest films of the year,  this Tolstoy classic should leave plenty of time for conversation.  We have a private room at Guarino's afterward.  The dinner part is nearly sold out at this point.

Holy Motors - Wednesday December 5 at 6PM

I am not sure what we will actually be seeing, but the reviews have been glowing.  As in many independent films, this might be a love or hate relationship.  However, with a rocket high 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the odds are you will love it.  Over the course of a single day, Monsieur Oscar travels by limousine around Paris to a series of nine "appointments," transforming into new characters or incarnations at each stop.  Is it a monster movie, film noir, romantic drama, musical, crime thriller, futuristic sex fantasia? The answer is YES.  I hope you can join us.

Every year, the Cleveland Film Festival puts on a number of mini-fundraisers called "Film Feasts".  They are great fun to attend.   They have magic shows, food presentations, art exhibits, etc.   Please consider signing up for one or more of them.  Or better yet, let me know if you might be interested in scheduling one of these for our group.
Check this link for a list of all film Festivals and movie organizations in town (under menu option "Pages")

If you want to see what movies our organizers are contemplating, you can look at our calendar.  These are reserved dates that we are looking into organizing.  As always, we welcome your feedback and potentially would like your help in selecting films.

We do our best to help you find the dinner place, but we strongly suggest you know where the dinner place is ahead of time to make sure that you don't get lost trying to find the place.  Again, these places depend on your RSVP's being accurate so please don't drop out on us for a reason such as this.  Thanks.
