Softball Pick-up Games - IT'S ON! - Sep 6, 6-8p, 5th game (skipping 8/23, 8/30)

RSVP ("Attend") here for the 5th softball pick-up game on Sep 6, 6-8p. Slow-pitch. Equipment is provided, or bring your own.

Co-ed, "adults" or capable of playing with adults. The idea is to have fun and enjoy the game - not hardcore competition.

The first 4 practices/games went very well, with a great, fun group of people. We have good pitchers, fielders - all positions. And some (most?) of us need a LOT more practice (like myself). So, if you're new or "not as good as you used to be," you'll fit right in.

Come hit some balls and run the bases. Life is short ...and so are Ohio's warmer seasons !

Lessons learned: Quite a few of us pulled leg muscles running to first base. Stretching before games (& throughout the week) is a good idea, including on off-days and the off-season. Also, as I was told, making high circles with hips, like climbing over a hurdle. Maybe ask your doctor.

Parking: Your GPS will lead you to the main Calvin Field parking lot. We're on Field #1, the closest field to the lot. Can park throughout the surrounding neighborhood, too.

Heat/safety: There is a water fountain by the (very nice!) bathrooms, including a bottle-filler. I bring a small first aid kit. Defib machine/box at bathoom. Field is little red gravel, not sand, so be careful if you slide.

There is a "splash park," to cool off, near the parking lot - press the red button. Operating until 730p.

Many want to continue Sat's 6-8p. We're open to other days/times - your feedback is welcome!

We're starting with slow-pitch co-ed softball. I bring 6 aluminum bats (various lengths/weights), 10 gloves (various sizes - getying more - now have an 11” for lefties & 12” on order), 11" softballs, face & body protection for pitchers, catchers and umpires.

We can try fast-pitch softball or regular baseball sometime, if enough people prefer that.
