An Uninhabitable Earth? Climate Science and the Extinction Rebellion
Details
During this meeting, via video, slides, and discussion we'll review...
-- the science of Climate Change
-- the evidence for the possibility of Abrupt Climate Change
-- Potential paths for our surviving the Emergency
I'll post the slides of the presentations after the meetup.
This meetup is cross-posted to two other meetups. My guest count includes people attending from those other meetups.
Background...
I was concerned, but optimistic, about climate change back in February of 2019. But I wanted to understand the risks and spent time researching them. In the process, I've become profoundly alarmed.
Average temperatures around the globe have been rising faster recently than global organizations chartered to address the climate change issue anticipated. This is a profoundly disturbing development.
The contrast between slow national and international climate organizations and the speed of emerging evidence suggesting our existence as a species may be at risk is an ALARM in itself.
Agenda
During this meetup, we'll review key videos and evidence that triggered the founding of the Extinction Rebellion in the UK and a local chapter, "Extinction Rebellion - Central Oregon" here. The evidence shows up in videos and books. We'll review...
6pm to 8pm
... The Big Picture Story about Climate
... What that Story Means for Human Survival
... Paths for surviving the Emergency
... Discussion
I look forward to learning along with you!
:-)
