Generative AI can produce a stock photo in seconds. Colourbox has sold stock photos for twenty years. You can see the problem.

Agentic products and LLM stacks are still in their infancy, we're all laying the tracks right as the train rolls over them, reminiscent of the early, wild-west days of tools like OpenClaw. At Colourbox, we're bringing these emerging technologies directly to European soil. We're bridging our stock library and Skyfish's DAM through agentic search and retrieval, building a unified, custom metadata and search layer on top of our existing solutions using models we train and host ourselves. It's a pragmatic, honest look at what it takes to build sovereign AI infrastructure when the playbook is still being written.

This is the honest version of how that's going: the architecture, what self-hosting and EU-only sourcing actually cost, and the parts that didn't work.
