Container Storage Interface (CSI) and Rook (Kubernetes-native storage)

Details
We are thrilled to be reviving this meetup with the first Cloud-Native Storage event in San Francisco.
Agenda:
6:30 - 7:00: Arrive, Networking, Food & Drinks
7:00 - 7:30 - Saad Ali: An overview and introduction to CSI.
Talk abstract: In early 2017, community members from various container orchestration systems (including Kubernetes, Mesos, Cloud Foundry, and Docker) met to come up with a standardized interface for storage systems to plug-in to their systems. The Container Storage Interface (CSI) was born out of this collaboration. In this talk, Saad will briefly discuss the history of CSI, the current proposed spec, and what the future holds.
7:30 - 8:00 - Bassam Tabbara: Rook and Kubernetes-native object, block and file storage.
Talk abstract: In this talk, Bassam will share how to build a production-ready storage cluster using Kubernetes. Storage nodes run as pods and enumerate the available storage devices within the cluster. Bassam will show how some of the features of Kubernetes including controllers/operators, third-party resources, resource management, and rolling upgrades can lead to more powerful and resilient storage clusters. He will also walk through use cases where the storage cluster is dedicated (hyperscaled) or shared with other applications (hyperconverged).
8:15 - 8:45 - Wrap-up, Finish
