Open Swim at Carrigan Farms
Details
Swimming in a deep, refreshing natural quarry is the perfect way to cool off in the summer. Located about thirty minutes north of Charlotte, The Quarry at Carrigan Farms is an oasis. โ๏ธ๐
Go to www.carriganfarms.com to reserve your OPEN SWIM spot and to look over additional details like what to bring and not bring. I recommend bringing a chair with you. REMEMBER to bring cash to pay the rest of your reservation fee at the Farm.
Swimming works up an appetite and the restaurant at open swim serves delicious, farm-fresh favorites like grilled hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, scratch-made pizza, veggie burgers, fresh salads, fruit cups, ice cream and snow cones, as well as fresh items that change daily. Beer and wine are also available for purchase. Please note that no outside food or beverages may be brought to open swim.
If you want to car pool with anyone so you don't drive the whole way, some great spots to meet up and park your car for free while riding with someone else the rest of the way is a CATS Park and Ride parking lot such as I-485 Station in the open or covered parking lot or University City Blvd Station. You can check here for other spots that may work for you as well: https://www.charlottenc.gov/CATS/Ride/Bus/Park-and-Rides
Safety comes first and lifeguards are on duty during open swim. Additionally, everyone must wear a life jacket unless they have passed the swim test. Life jackets are provided or you may bring your own. If you don't want a life jacket, I recommend bringing a noodle of your own in case there aren't any extras available at the Quarry.
Only those twelve years old or older may take the swim test. The swim test assesses endurance, treading, quality of stroke, and level of comfort in the water, among other attributes. All swimming is at your own risk. The water is 25 feet deep.
