Charlotte Dragon Boat Association is a non-profit organization created to promote the sport of dragon boating in our region.

Here is the CCTV (China Central Television) coverage of the Oak Ridge dragon boat race on May 31st, 2014:

Charlotte Dragonboat invites all meetup folks to come and try it out. No experience is necessary. All age groups and fitness levels are welcome and we provide all the gear. You just need to wear workout clothes that can get splashed on, and bring water to drink.

Competitive team practice:

Wednesday 6:30 PM till 7:45 PM

Saturday 8:45 AM till 10:00 AM

Beginner dragon boat practice:

Saturday 10:00 AM till 11:30 AM

Racing Crew Practice*: Wednesday, 6 PM-Port City Club, Cornelius, NC

Hello Crew:

Going forward, we will hold our practices at the Port City Club (PCC) Restaurant, Cornelius NC. Please park your vehicle furthest away (along the perimeters) from the restaurant and save the closer spaces for their customers. We are grateful to PCC for providing a new home for CDBA. Each one of us is representing CDBA, please be respectful to the staff and their patrons and the property. Be sure to dress appropriately especially if you were to dine at the restaurant after the practices.

As always, RSVP closes one day before the Meetup start time.

Masks are optional during the practice.

Warmup at 6:10 PM. Boats leave the dock at 6:30 PM sharp, and return around 7:30 PM.

*The Wednesday practice is "Reserved for the CDBA racing team members." If you are new to the club, and like to attend the Wednesday evening practice, please talk to Dr. John Chen first before signing up.

CDBA Race Crew Practice: Saturday, 08:30 AM; Port City Club

Needs a location

Folks, starting this Saturday, 4/16/22, the 0830 hr session is open Only to the CDBA Racing Crew members!

This will allow the coaches to fully focus on preparing the racing crew for upcoming races. At the same time, minimizes any potential injuries that may be incurred upon the new paddlers if they were mixed into this session.

If you are a beginner, or a recreational member, please sign up for the 1015 session where you will get a more direct, one-on-one instructions and guidance from the coaches as well as some veteran members who will also be in the boat with you. If you had already signed up for the 0830 session this Saturday, please re-sign up for the 1015 session. sorry for the inconvenience.

Veteran crew members, be sure to sign up on Meetup if you were planning on coming!

Masks are optional.
All attendees must sign a waiver for 2022!

Be sure to monitor the Meetup event for last minute updates, i.e., location change, weather delays and/or cancelations.

Practice: Beginner, Recreational and Race Crew, Sat, 10:15 AM, Port City Club.

Folks, starting this Saturday, 4/16/22. We are restarting the 2nd practice session. This session will provide a more direct, one-on-one, training for the new and recreational members as some veteran racing crew members will also be in the boat.
The early morning session (08:30) is reserved for race crew members only.

Show Time: 10:15 AM
Boat Launch: 10:30 AM!

Parking: Please park vehicles along the perimeters of--furthest away from the restaurant to allow the patrons with closer parking spaces.

What to bring: Drinking water, sunscreen, sun glasses, and dress appropriately for the water and the weather. We provide paddles, life jackets and coaching.

If it's your first time, be sure to sign a waiver prior to getting into the boat. Also, please check in with Dr. John Chen, club chairman/founder; Brian Tarle, club president; and/or Kim Wong, team captain.

RSVP closes one day before the Meetup at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP so we may get an accurate count of participants. Thank you.
