About Gloucester
Gloucester lies close to the Welsh border, on the River Severn and is the county town of Gloucestershire. It was founded in AD97 by the Romans and they named it; 'Colonia Nervia Glevensium'.After the Romans left in the late 4th century, Gloucester was captured by the Saxons in 577. Its situation on a navigable river, and the foundation in 681 of the abbey of St Peter by Æthelred, favoured the growth of the town. In the early 10th century the remains of Saint Oswald were brought to a small church in Gloucester, bringing many pilgrims to the town.
The core street layout is thought to date back to late Saxon times. In 1216 King Henry III, aged only ten years, was crowned with a gilded iron ring in the Chapter House of Gloucester Cathedral.
Gloucester is known for its 7th century cathedral (which featured in three Harry Potter films) and its good number of medieval and Tudor period gabled and half timbered houses from the 15th & 16th centuries.

About Glastonbury
Glastonbury is situated at a dry point on the low-lying Somerset Levels, 23 miles south of Bristol. Not only is is very historical, its a highly spiritual town which attracts New Age & Christian communities on pilgrimage.Evidence from timber trackways show that the town has been inhabited since Neolithic times. Glastonbury Abbey was founded in the 7th century and dominated the town for the next 700 years until the dissolution of the monasteries in the 1530's. It was one of the most important abbeys in England and was the site of Edmund Ironside's coronation as King of England in 1016.
Many of the oldest surviving buildings in the town, including the Glastonbury Tribunal, George Hotel and Pilgrims' Inn and the Somerset Rural Life Museum, which is based in an old tithe barn, are associated with the abbey.
Glastonbury has been described as a New Age community which attracts people with New Age and Neopagan beliefs, and is notable for myths and legends often related to Glastonbury Tor (a natural hill where a roofless church sits on top). Joseph of Arimathea is said to have arrived in Glastonbury and stuck his staff into the ground, when it flowered miraculously into the Glastonbury Thorn. King Arthur is also said to be buried under the Tor.
There is also a natural spring in the town called the Chalice Well, where people collect its waters to drink and bathe in.
