What we're about
## Welcome to Yannick's Coaching Lab!
I’m Yannick, I love coaching, and I created this Lab to give coaches the opportunity to witness highly experienced coaches live at work.
### If you've ever seen a coach in action, you know what a massively valuable learning experience it is.
And that is why I created The Coaching Lab, where you get to be a fly on the wall during a 45-minute live coaching session, talk to the coach & client about their experience, and practise your own skills as part of an intimate and friendly community.
Over the years, The Coaching Lab has become a valuable asset in the lives of many coaches. Both beginners and seasoned practitioners alike tell us how much they love the opportunity to take a look inside the minds of other coaches. It’s enlightening and revealing to hear coaches reflect on the ‘what, why & how’ of their coaching approach, and to see a range of different styles in action.
If you’ve ever felt that life can be lonely as a coach, or you want to learn new techniques, or try out a new modality or way of being before using them with paying clients, then The Coaching Lab was made for you.
I hope to see you at one of our next events!
___
PS: It all started here on MeetUp in 2020, but the Lab has a dedicated home now and a growing membership base. You can learn more about the Lab, and become a member, at www.GoCoachingLab.com
PPS: Most attendees are either members of the Lab or buy tickets via Eventbrite, so if it feels quiet here on MeetUp, that's why. Rest assured there'll be a crowd and plenty of great atmosphere.
PPPS: Non-coaches, curious about what's going on under the hood or keen to experience a coaching session, are more than welcome!
PPPPS: If you would like to get some free coaching in the Lab, and you wouldn't mind an (invisible) audience, you can apply to be a client for one of our invited coaches here.

This month our guest is ICF Master-Certified Coach, trainer and supervisor Julia Rogers. I've known Julia for a while now and I was struck by her love for Freud and psychodynamics. Traditionally placed in the therapy space, we've been talking a fair bit about how these concepts show up in the coaching room and so I can't wait to finally see her in action with a client.
Bio & Approach
Julia is an ICF Master-Certified Coach (MCC) and qualified coaching supervisor with degrees in Communication Studies and Psychoanalysis.
Julia views both coaching and supervision through a psychodynamics lens and she feels that this is a vastly untapped resource for coaches and supervisors alike. It is part of her mission to bring Freud and other theorists into the world of coaching in order to allow for coaches to use key psychodynamic concepts and theories to unlock deeper levels of understanding and awareness for their clients.
Next to her private practice, Julia is the Coach Training Director at Optimus Coach Academy, a leading UK based ICF provider of Level One and Level Two accredited coach training programmes to students across the world. Julia trains, mentors and assesses students, and provides group supervision for alumni, and she has written and delivers CCE courses accredited by the ICF – mainly relating to how the fields of psychodynamics and coaching can be linked.
Julia held a variety of leadership positions throughout her career and she’s been working with executives from both profit and non-profit sectors across multi-industry backgrounds. Her supervision clients range from internal coaches working in large multinational organisations, to independent practitioners.

Welcome to the Coaching Cabinet!
The Cabinet is a dedicated monthly peer support group for the wider TaC Talking about Coaching community (this includes members and visitors of the Coaching Lab, listeners of the Talking about Coaching and Talking about Coaching & Psychedelics Podcasts, members of the Facebook group, and any life, business, transformational or other kind of coach who enjoys talking about coaching and keen to connect with colleagues).
Our aim is to come together as colleagues and help each other out across three different domains:
- Business: support with establishing, maintaining or growing your coaching business, signing up clients, niching, selling, marketing, etc
- Practice: how to practice coaching, sharing different coaching skills and techniques, peer supervision or sharing stories from our coaching practice
- Personal: support with personal challenges or development goals that you may have as a coach, growing as a person to grow as a practitioner.
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month we'll get together in three breakout rooms via Zoom to create movement and value for each other, share our knowledge and experience, offer coaching-style questions and/or accountability, as well as peer supervision.
Each room will be facilitated by an experienced coach and supervisor who will hold the space for the group and help you create value for each other, based on a series of themes that have been chosen by the group to be most relevant/helpful in each domain.
The format of each room will usually follow a "spotlight" model, in which one member of the group will be invited to share a current challenge or goal they're having, with the rest of the group dedicated to helping them out through offering questions, observations or sharing their own knowledge and experience on the topic. Depending on the complexity of the issue, we'll have time for 2-3 rounds during each get together. So have a little think what you might want to bring in, or just lean back and listen in on some of your colleagues' challenges and wins.
While you'll get the most from the Coaching Cabinet the more regularly you'll attend, these are drop-in sessions, and so you can join different groups at different times or just stick your head in when you're looking for some support with a current issue you're facing.
And yes, these sessions are completely free to give something back to the community of coaches that we feel so at home in. If you want to do a kind thing, feel free to make a donation. We'll invest it back into community services.
That's it. We look forward to seeing you there :)
In the meantime, be well!

Our guest this month is "Consciousness Wizard" Devin White. I met Devon through a personal recommendation when asking around for the best and most inspiring coaching teachers on the planet. We ended up filming an AMAZING module for the ACIC and as part of this he offered one of the most teachable demos I've ever seen. The announcement of his online course on NLP with the School of Positive Transformation reminded me that we HAVE to invite him into the Lab to showcase his style and let us learn from him. I'm very happy he said yes!
Bio & Approach
Devon is the CEO and co-founder of FIELD, a neurotechnology company that helps people “Meet Their Brain” by measuring their brainwaves. FIELD’s mission is to bring brain-driven wellness & unlocking Human Intelligence (HI).
In his own words:
Signs of well functioning Human Intelligence include:
- a general sense of wellbeing
- the ability to perform at peak on command
- a bias toward seeing possibility in every context
- a strong drive toward learning and adaptation
- decision making and behaviours aligned with the life you want
My approach to coaching is fun, effective and super straight forward. In a session, my clients tap into an embodied sense of how they are “at their best,” and together we discover their personal formula for accessing this state. Like this, they have a sense that anything is possible. Rid of indecision or any sense that anything is “missing” they can be fully in the moment creating with life as it emerges. Then I throw them in the deep end and they have to access it on their own in front of me.
I like to laugh a lot and tell stories.
I live for my wife and kids. And the larger mission of bringing HI to the world.
