What we're about

CASH (formerly SSAM) serves as a meeting place and idea exchange for skeptics, secular humanists, atheists, agnostics and freethinkers of the Savannah area. The group provides a safe space for non-religious discourse. The group is still relatively new, so new members' input is essential for shaping the direction of the group going forward in regards to potential event series, goals of the group, etc.

Brown Bag For The Elderly At Second Harvest

America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia

Note: "Brown Bag" Has been moved to Second Harvest's new location which is just around the corner from this location. Just drive a few hundred more feet past the old location to the intersection and turn right. And bam, right there on the left. Come on out and help "Brown Bag For The Elderly" on Saturday morning at Second Harvest. This is a nonprofit group that receives donations, bags up groceries, and delivers them to low income elderly folk across 21 counties in Georgia. Our job will be to unload pallets of food and stuff brown grocery bags full of good food to be distributed. It is fun and rewarding work. We always have a blast. Wear some good work shoes, flip flops or sandals are not the best choice of footwear. Orientation starts at 7:45 and we get to bagging at about 8:00. It usually takes about two hours to finish. Monday Meetup at Mellow Mushroom

Mellow Mushroom

Let's have a mycorrhizal Monday (and enjoy our relationship with plants because we're fun guys!). They have a wonderful happy hour, several vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options, burgers/veggie burgers, and of course pizza on the menu (http://mellowmushroom.com/store/savannah/menu/14/pizza). It's a kid-friendly atmosphere, so bring 'em along! There is a parking deck right next door (W. Liberty just after Whitaker), and there is usually plenty of street parking on the surrounding blocks.

Taco Tuesday at The Ordinary

The Ordinary Pub

Let's meet up at The Ordinary's Taco Tuesday, which offers chicken, beef, and veggie tacos for $2, margaritas for $4, and happy hour until 7 pm ($3 draught beers, $3 can beers, 2-for-1 $4 well drinks, and 1/2 price pub bites, which are excellent...), and a full menu (http://www.theordinarypub.com/new-index/#dinner-1). There is a parking deck at Jefferson and York and there is usually plenty of street parking on the surrounding blocks.

American Legion/Betty Bombers Trivia Night

American Legion

Let's meet up at The American Legion for some trivia. The American Legion Post 135 is in the same building as Betty Bombers. You pass it in the hallway to get to Bettys. You can order food from Bettys and have it delivered to you there in the bar area. The legion is very cool spot (probably my favorite bar in town) with friendly staff and affordable drinks. Trivia starts at 7:30 so I figure we meet at 6:30-6:45ish to get our team/teams assembled and submitted in time. There is a limit of six players per team so we may have to do more than one. Betty Bombers, for those who have never been, has lots of delicious burgers/veggie burgers, bar food, sandwiches, tacos, and more on the menu (http://bettybombers.com/menu/) (they also have separate veggie oil fryers to keep things vegetarian/vegan as appropriate). There is street parking on Bull St., on Park Ave. near Forsyth Park, and on the surrounding blocks.
