About us

We started this group because we kept hearing the same thing from people who wanted to contribute to open source: "I don't know where to start" and "I'm worried I'm not good enough yet." If that sounds like you, you're in exactly the right place. This is a judgment-free space where we learn together, share what we're working on, and help each other navigate the world of open source. You don't need to be an expertβ€”in fact, most of us aren't. We're just people who are curious about code and want to be part of something bigger.

At our meetups, we talk about finding your first project, working with version control, understanding pull requests, and dealing with the weird feelings that come up when you're contributing to someone else's code for the first time. We do code reviews on each other's work, pair program when someone's stuck, and celebrate the small wins along the way. Whether you're still learning to code or you know how to code but have never contributed to open source before, there's something here for you.

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your half-baked ideas, your failed attemptsβ€”all of it. We believe that the best way to learn is by doing it alongside people who get it, and we're building a community where showing up as a beginner is not just accepted, it's expected.
